Super as needed

Assuming that you use 2 deep hive bodies as brood chambers, you will need 2 - 3 additional deep supers of drawn combs, or the equivalent in mediums/shallows, for honey supers. Experience with and close attention to the nectar flows in your area is the best way to determine how many supers you should add. Be sure to remove mite treatments before adding honey supers. Supers should not be added too early and not too late; so, be sure to be looking for signs that indicate that you need to add supers. Foundation requires a special protocol.
